Congratulations to our own LaVonda Corner!

Eleven students and twenty one adults from the Tri-state area will be honored at the 12th Heroes of Character “Be the Change” Celebration on April 11, 2024 at the Delta Marriott in Sharonville, Ohio. The event is hosted by the Character Council of Greater CIncinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana in collaboration with the Hamilton “City of Character”. Both groups strive to strengthen individuals and enrich the spirit of the community by promoting and encouraging good character.

2024 Adult honorees include Sarah Blair, Reading, OH; Tim Brown, Hamilton, OH; LaVonda Corner, Mt. Healthy,OH; Chip Dobson, Madeira, OH; Melinda Fluker, Glendale, OH; Abby Fox, Rising Sun, IN; Jonathon Frost, Hamilton, OH; F. James Geers, Loveland, OH; Brian Head, Cleves, OH; Michelle Konerman, Hamilton, OH; Logan Lawrence, Wilmington, OH; Lilly Dawn Lewis, Aberdeen, OH; Colleen McSwiggin, Bridgetown, OH; Steve & Margie Ober, North Bend, OH; Julie Leis Raleigh, Delhi, OH; Art Reckman, Cincinnati, OH; Rachel Reynolds, Greendale, IN; Bill Ward, Sharonville, OH. Dolores J. Lindsay of Lincoln Heights, OH will be presented with the prestigious “Pillar of Character” award for her achievements and lifetime of service to the community while Susan Wyder, Springdale, OH will be honored with the “Angel of Compassion” award.

“We changed our format this year to honor the nominees in a unique way. Their stories are completely inspiring from the preschooler who brightens everyone’s day to an angel of compassion who has dedicated her life and career to the service of others. This amazing event is a celebration of hope,” said Mary Andres Russell, Board Chair.

The Celebration will be held from 6-8:30pm and will include a reception, dinner, and program. The voice of the Hamilton Joes Baseball Club, Tyler Bradshaw, will emcee the Celebration while recently retired superintendent of Princeton City Schools, Tom Burton, will deliver the keynote address. The event is the Character Council’s major fundraiser for the year and will include a Silent Auction. For more information please visit
