Dear South Elementary Parents, Family Members, and Friends,
Welcome back, we MISSED you!!
On behalf of our entire staff, we would like to welcome our students. It is with great honor and much enthusiasm that we announce the beginning of our 2022-23 school year! Vigorous planning, instructional design, and plain hard work has gone into preparing for a successful school year.
I am excited to be leading South Elementary as Principal for my 2nd year, in addition to Mr. Bob Buchheim returning as assistant principal. Ms. Tenisha Smith and Mrs. Karen Harkness are joining the administrative team as assistant principals. Ms. Smith comes to us from North Elementary and Mrs. Harkness is coming from Glendale Elementary in the Princeton City School district. Both individuals have been in education for some time and are excited to join the South family. The administrative team is excitingly anticipating the return of students and open partnership with guardians, parents, and the community.
Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to establish the legacy of success within Mt. Healthy by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. We will focus on diversity and equity initiatives, high quality teaching, the use of data to drive instruction, and to provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in an engaging manner so that we can continue to increase all of the students' achievement. Everyone at South is eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever! This year will focus on providing academic and enrichment experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections.

As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.

School attendance is imperative to your child’s success. Every absence from school interferes with your child’s opportunity to learn. Chronic Absenteeism, usually defined by researchers as missing 10% or more of the school year (including excused and unexcused absences), has a significant negative effect on student achievement and may put a student at academic risk. “Be great, miss less than 8.” Please do not forget to notify the school of your child’s absence by calling the attendance line at (513) 742-6016.
Sincerely,
Brittany Dickerson
Principal
Mt. Healthy South Elementary
