On behalf of our entire staff, we would like to welcome our new kindergarten students and our returning first through sixth grade students! It is with great honor and much enthusiasm that we announce the beginning of our 2019-20 school year! Much planning, instructional design, and plain hard work has gone into preparing for a successful school year.
I am excited to join the South team this year as your new Principal! This will be my 20th year in education. I began my first three years as a classroom teacher in an urban school in Miami Dade County, Florida. From there, I moved further South into the Florida Keys where I spent the next twelve years in upper elementary at Key Largo School. The last five years of my career have been in building administration. In 2017, my family and I relocated to Cincinnati where I joined the North Elementary team as their Dean of Students for the 18-19 school year.
Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to establish the legacy of success within Mt. Healthy by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. We will focus on character education initiatives, Ohio State Standards, the use of data to drive instruction, and to provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in an engaging manner so that we can continue to increase all of the students' achievement.
All of us at South Elementary School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever! This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic and enrichment experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections.
All teachers and support staff have spent hours preparing materials, creating child-centered classrooms, and reviewing data. The rooms are beginning to look amazing! Secretaries and office staff have registered new students, put together information packets to be sent home with all students, and organized new materials.
I would like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to our custodial, maintenance, and technology staff. They worked diligently throughout the summer to clean and ready the school. Many facility updates from structural to technological took place and are continuing to happen as we speak!
As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.
